About Murrumba Endurance Riding Club

Murrumba Endurance Riding Club (MERC) was established in 1968, shortly after the first Tom Quilty ever held. Today we are proud to say we are the oldest Australian club still in operation.

Our club's first ride departed the Morayfield State School and followed dirt roadways to the top of Mount Mee,  then returning to the school. Due to urbanisation the ride base was shifted, Woodford Showgrounds is where the majority of our rides are now based.

The showgrounds are in close proximity to the State Forest, providing a safe ride base and scenic tracks suitable for long distance riding. It is a popular training area for local endurance riders.

MERC is a small social club with members of varying ages and expertise. Our common goal is to promote 'Endurance Riding' and to encourage newcomers to the sport. We annually hold an Education Weekend; a Seminar and Intro ride (approx 20km) to educate horse riders and volunteers from alternative equestrian disciplines on the benefits of Endurance Riding. Our annual Murrumba Magic 100/40km is held in August and attracts Endurance Riders both locally and interstate.

We welcome new members and volunteers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have an enquiry or if you would like to join.
